With Bluehost, you do not have the flexibility to subscribe to any of their shared hosting plans for a short term. You can only use the one-year, two-year or three-year subscription options with them. GoDaddy allows you to subscribe to their shared hosting plans for shorter terms, such as for three months or even one month (except for the GoDaddy Economy plan).
Last week I received an email from them stating that ‘Emergency Maintenance” was required on my box, and that it would entail 30-90 minutes of downtime. Not so. They completely broke my site, and I am unable to get through to their technical support, so I have critical data trapped in a database I can’t access because they scrambled the configuration. I can’t even put up a temporary site on a dynamic host to keep my business running! SO PISSED right now.
During my last semester of teaching I was approached by one of my students who said he could optimize my site and get many more readers quickly, but found some security flaws in the site which should be fixed first. He offered to fix it himself for free, but first I contacted support. They did not do much and claimed the site was in good standing with security.

Follow the one with the services that most closely match your hosting needs.

Great question! Most good web hosts tend to offer 24/7 customer support and acknowledge that their customers are from all around the world so I wouldn’t worry too much about using an international host. As a Swede I find myself using a lot of US-based hosting companies and I don’t think it’s ever negatively affected me or the customer service I get.
Eventhough their technical support representative is friendly. I contacted them about what seems to be complicated/advanced problem. six of their representative was either unable to present solution or had made assumption solutions which did not fix the problem. 8 hour of email/telephone marathon ensued, escalating all the way to manager. Turns out the manager knew the solution.
One thing that is missing is the ticket based support system. Bluehost recently decided to eliminate ticket based support to focus on personal approach of live chat and phone based support. However, some users may still miss the ticket based support system which is particularly good if your issue cannot be resolved in one live chat or phone session.

I am writing simply because you have saved me a fortune of Wealth not necessary money but stress, frustration, anger, time, and even depression. I especially find it unacceptable when my friend didn’t get the support from Bluehost to fix anything. He has been paying almost double the price of what other hosting companies would charge for a similar package, and he’s not getting what he deserves to have out of this deal at all. Bottom line is, there’re better service providers out there who are more responsible and would cost less.

Everything went smoothly and although the site isn't super fast, it is up 100% of the time (or very close, I don't know what happens when I'm not on it.)

This, of course, is barely an advantage. What was kind of worrisome was the consistency of Bluehost’s average speeds abroad. Servers located in East Asia and Australia did fairly well – giving responses of below 200ms. It was the results from European servers that can be a cause of concern. The tests averaged roughly 400ms – not really that impressive for users located in Europe.
And not only are they not free, they are expensive and limited. Expect to pay a $149.99 migration fee to transfer over a maximum of five sites and 20 e-mail accounts. When they want to bring in new customers with their low prices, you’d expect that Bluehost would make transferring your site over relatively painless, especially because most companies will transfer your site for free.

The constant up-sells or teased, handicapped features were loathsome. The support is rather bad. Periodically, our client sites would get wiped out or rolled back to the same point in time. Navigation: HostGator uses what’s called a cPanel for managing your websites and domain. It has the classic cPanel look with its menu found on the left sidebar and most of the service’s features are represented by icons organized into categories on the main page. I find the cPanel to be a bit disorganized and slightly difficult to navigate. HostGator’s support area design is a bit archaic though; quite cumbersome and composed of icons consisting of clipart – artifacts reminiscent of a bygone era.

Used to be a good hosting company. Downhill for a year now, with problems escalating since Jan 2016. Cpanel does not work. Hotlink protection does not work. Contacted support and they tried to blame me. I told them it was a file change they had made and I had deleted my htaccess file and used their own cpanel hotlink protection and it failed. Support person deleted files they had changed to erase their fingerprint and it still does not work. Domain manager, cannot disable Privacy Protection. Chat support unable to assist said created Help ticket. Copy sent does not include issue. Contacted support again to verify ticket and was told nothing they can do, Domain Support not in on weekends! So much for the 24/7 support they advertise! Make Copies of EVERY contact with Bluehost including your billing info. This is interstate commerce and carried out over wire.
So you need to be careful before you commit. I alsodon'tt appreciate their having to pay almost $80 to access thwalkthroughgh video of their services, when most hosting companies offer this for free. With all that said, I´ve been happy with the service as far as uptime and the level of security features available to implement. Overall, there´s no denying that Bluehost offers great value for money.

My company has been using BlueHost as a web host for a few years now, and all of my dealings with them have been unnecessarily complicated - even regarding what should be simple fixes and queries. For one, the lack of a Support Ticket system is asinine. I was left on-and-off hold with their support center for 2+ straight hours, and when I requested to just be called back/emailed when they received the answer they needed from another department, I was told that I was "REQUIRED to stay on the phone" or I would have to "go through the whole process again" - a COMPLETE waste of my time and workday. Additionally, our site got infected by malware for which we were offered NO support and instead were immediately transferred to a sales department who spouted a lengthy sales pitch and gave no genuine technical advice. When asked to speak with someone who wasn't trying to sell us a product, we were told that wasn't an option. I could go on about the billing department's 2-month runaround JUST for trying to change our password and registrant info - even with legal proof of account ownership and providing them with multiple other methods of verification, all of which were accepted but to no avail... Overall, an atrocious ripoff for the price with disappointing web-building tools and a complete absence of support.
