We used their Shared Hosting plan (AUD 16.58) and were treated to 50 GB of storage, unlimited bandwidth with 10 domains. It may feel a little pricey especially since they’re limiting your storage and domains, but this could work in our favour – limited resources in shared hosting means no single client will get to hog the server, which results in stable servers for everyone.
I used blue host for hosting a blog and got a deal with a special offer. It was easy to set up, and switching my hosting to bluehost was simple. They gave me a deal since to host with them since I used wordpress. Also, when I signed up I worked with a customer service member who was extremely nice and stayed on the line with me even though they were about to close.
Sadly, there is a bit of a "gotcha" to the free automatic backup service. If you're paying $3.95 a month (for the first year of hosting, then $9.95 a month), you don't get restores for free. Each restore, no matter how small or large, will cost you $19.95. I'm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, the company has to pay salaries to tech support reps who can handle panicking customers. On the other hand, it seems kind of mean-spirited to hit someone when they're down with an added fee. That said, getting your data back – at any price – is priceless.
Today we’ll be reviewing Bluehost, a titan of the hosting industry and arguably the most popular shared hosting company on the planet. While size and popularity are impressive, they don’t always correlate with the highest quality. Bluehost is one of the oldest hosting companies around and offers a very budget friendly hosting option for both new and seasoned website owners.
HostGator, on the other hand, has more coupons that are available throughout the year (in my experience) . At the time of writing, the lowest non-coupon price available on HostGator’s hatchling plan was $3.30/month with a 36 month package. Again, there are often coupons and specials around holidays that can get this price even lower from my experience, but I can’t really say the same for Bluehost.
We believe in our process, but the fact is web hosting can be complicated. The ‘best’ changes depending on need. The Godfather is one of the best films of all time, but you wouldn’t watch it if you fancied having a laugh. It’s the same with hosting. There are better services than iPage hosting, but if you wanted a super cheap plan with solid support, they’re worth considering.
Turns out Bluehost blames the site developer and the site developer blames Bluehost for any problems anyway. Although my other site with Godaddy is small in comparison, the speed of the Godaddy site is so much faster, I literally cannot even count the 1 Mississippi before the page loads. Considering the millions and billions of pages on the internet, why is it that Bluehost seems to have so many problems with my few dozen web pages? Am I one of the few unlucky ones or is any website with more than a few pages not compatible with Bluehost hosting performance anymore? Is there a site storage size, where Bluehost is no longer viable for fast page load times? Am I correct in assuming that Bluehost is not a hosting company for any website with a desire for growth in sales? Perhaps I should have discontinued with Bluehost after the 3rd site downtime, but alas, how do I know some other hosting company won’t be the same or worse? Ultimately, the question from me is. . Is Bluehost capable of providing the 2 second or less page load times for a growing ecommerce site with dozens or hundreds of products and what hosting plan price will that be?
Bluehost doesn’t promise a specific number in terms of uptime percentages, but they claim to be the best in the business. Our tests show 99.9% uptime for BlueHost.com. Users can boost security with SSL and SSH encryption, their servers utilize 10 GB connections, they have a UPS power backup system, and a super-strong server. Still, there’s a plethora of former customers out there who gripe about the slow load time.
Their unmetered bandwidth means you'll be covered if you experience a spike in website visitors. Host providers commonly offer this, sometimes referring to it as unlimited bandwidth instead. Either way, it means the same thing. Bluehost's technology monitors your resources and temporarily re-assigns your website to an isolated system if it is using excessive resources. As a result, your website performance won't suffer when you have an unexpected increase in users.
Not only is Blue Host extremely easy to set-up and use, it is also a competitive price. I was able to purchase my domain name, for my blog about education, using a prorated plan. Even if you are not sure how long you will be active on the Internet, or use your site, Blue Host's options for purchase offer competitive, realistic hosting rates. I purchased my domain name for three years. It was much cheaper than other hosting sites. The customer service options are also excellent. I receive updates on my site, information on how to improve, and general updates.

Considering BlueHost servers are only located in Utah, a state in the west of the US, it is no surprise to see the West Coast show the best response times. London, one the other hand, is a disappointment. Being the only European server tested, it didn’t do well, so you can assume that your European visitors are going to have slight delays. Besides that, it’s a solid performance.
Bluehost provides great value hosting products, quick live chat support. But they have stopped reseller hosting, and there are problems with previously sold reseller packages they won't fix, e.g. can't add in addon domains, and this problem can only be resolved by their QA department, which only works during US working time. For users outside US, it's a pain to get the support.
Overall Bluehost meets our needs and the price is right. As a small not-for-profit our needs started out pretty simple. We are currently changing and expanding our web presence and I am hopeful that Bluehost will be able to continue to provide what we need. I have had good luck with support with one exception. My home IP was blocked and I was unable to access the site from my house for over a week. I work from home so it was a big deal. They kept saying it was my ISP when it actually was being blocked by Bluehost. I jumped through many firey hoops before it was finally fixed.
