To be fair, their support has been awesome in the past, and hopefully it will be better in the future—and of course, this is just my opinion. Their support as it stands now is not bad per se, but it just used to be better from my perspective. HostGator was the first commercial hosting that I’ve ever bought, and I have multiple accounts I’m using with them now, so they’re definitely a host I trust, it’s just that I’ve been a bit disappointed with their support recently.

BlueHost, one of the most recognizable names in the web hosting industry with over 2M domain names under management, has been providing quality hosting solutions to thousands of business and personal web sites since 1996. Their "professional hosting" plan includes all the features you might need at the best possible price. Today, BlueHost is a part of Endurance International Group.
Hostgator has three shared web hosting plans: Hatchling, Baby, and Business. Although features obviously ramp up with each, the baseline features are strong. All plans offer unlimited disk space, 99.99% uptime, and extensive support. It take these commitments seriously; if it falls short on uptime, for example, HostGator will add one month of credit to your account.

I am not incredibly savvy when it comes to creating and managing a website, so I was confused about the different levels of purchase available. I was not sure what level of traffic I would receive on my blog, or the type of advertisement options I might want available. I also was not sure about affiliate programs. Blue Host also prompts you to use Word Press, which is fine for my site, but may not work for others. I think the push to use this specific secondary source as a blog site might interfere with the work you do online.

But in the event that you do find fault in the services power backups and decide to withdraw from the service, the vendor has a toll-free refund policy that you can use. However, the vendor has absolute control over all the facets of its services that the possibility of  failure of power backups is virtually remote.

Great question! Most good web hosts tend to offer 24/7 customer support and acknowledge that their customers are from all around the world so I wouldn’t worry too much about using an international host. As a Swede I find myself using a lot of US-based hosting companies and I don’t think it’s ever negatively affected me or the customer service I get.


I've been with bluehost several years as I used it to host my seeds to park the domains for my upcoming projects. I have several domains there about 50 of them. Last incident happened to me that i got hacked and 7 of them were stolen and moved to name.com. I contacted name.com and they replied promptly and they said to wait for bluehost's reply and they will cooperate to move them back. However, bluehost did not reply anything until I post a negative comment on twitter, 10 days later. 10 Days! Its an eternity for them to give a simple "hello, thank you for contacting us" reply. I strongly suggest for you guys to find a better place to host your domains, whatever reasons you are planning to, I think bluehost is NOT a reliable and safe place, its NOT worth it, at all and I advise you to stay away from them.
My internet needs are simple. I host various domains with fairly simple websites. I do not use WordPress/Templates. I use a free version of Serif that lets me build a simple site with more flexibility. This works fine with Bluehost it just took a little effort to figure out how to publish with a slightly different file path. My sites and email work just fine.

GoDaddy sit somewhere in the middle. Apart from the WP101 video tutorials, the extras in the GoDaddy WordPress installation don’t add as much to the user experience as those from Bluehost. Moreover, the lack of cPanel access with GoDaddy may be off-putting to more experienced users — not to mention the lack of support for the newer versions of PHP, no HTTP/2, and no free SSL certificate. However, the load testing did show that GoDaddy provided a resilient service.
While the company has improved on various hardware and software related issues in 2017, the page loading times are still not on-par with how famous they are in the world. If you are just starting a website, HostGator is a fine option. But if you’re making money on your site, you might quickly outgrow HostGator’s somewhat elementary feature set and subpar load times.

After deciding, and picking my option it took around 2 minutes and I was connected with Zach (or Zack). He was an American guy who did his best to help me. However, my question” “What’s the best service to pick if I plan to send 50GB worth of files through an FTP server every week and keep at least 300GB of files at the same time?” was not answered entirely, with the representative admitting it’s probably a dedicated server and he has no expertise in those.

Migration or transfer services are often free or offered at a reasonable fee. These services help move your existing site to the new hosting provider. They can save a huge amount of hassle. Just remember that the migration process is often automated, and may fit in with the host's processes and needs rather than yours. Not everything may migrate, and you may find the organization of the newly migrated site makes for harder maintenance in the long run.

You don’t need that much of a storage or bandwidth. When you are just a starting business, your bandwidth and storage needs are very basic. Do not fall for unlimited bandwidth and storage in the beginning because you’ll pay for something you won’t use. If your web pages aren’t heavy and there are no downloadable materials, even a few GBs of bandwidth will be more than enough.

One thing that is missing is the ticket based support system. Bluehost recently decided to eliminate ticket based support to focus on personal approach of live chat and phone based support. However, some users may still miss the ticket based support system which is particularly good if your issue cannot be resolved in one live chat or phone session.

Speed: Surprisingly, HostGator’s speed response time test was disappointing. Nevertheless, given the cost of the service, the results are still within reasonable limits. The tests resulted to 45ms average response time for DomainTools and an average of 53ms for Bitctcha’s results. These tests were done from servers based in the US, so the results were as expected. What’s surprising are the speed tests done from servers located at different parts of the globe. Most results came in at an average of 200ms – and with servers from London just going a little above 300ms. Given these numbers, HostGator’s shared web hosting server speeds are average in the US and are impressive abroad.

According to the same TechRepublic article mentioned earlier, however, AWS’s pricing models are a bit difficult to navigate and figure out just how much you’ll be paying each month. The costs can vary based on features and how much traffic your site gets. So, if your online business is scaling rapidly, your bottom line might be impacted by AWS’s hosting costs.

You can tell that first and foremost this host attempts to cater for the people who want to use WordPress. Daily backups and free SSL in a shared hosting plan is very attractive. This is why I’ve decided to do a BlueHost review using one of these plans exactly – to see whether it provides the clients with quick and reliable hosting on top of the extra features.

I tried the basic “shared” plan for several months, the so called better performing and more expensive “cloud” plan for several months and I actually experienced faster page load times with the less expensive “shared” plan and about 1/5 the downtime. Each time I was scheduled to “migrate” hosting plans, “There was a problem in completing the request” and spent several hours frantically trying to communicate with Bluehost chat and on hold over the phone. While on the cloud, my emails were completely inaccessible, for several days, and I was told an outside tech had to be called. Their recommendation to me was to use “gmail” instead. It seems Bluehost is best as a “sales” company at the moment instead of providing fast website page load times, so people can grow their data storage and legitimately grow and upgrade their hosting plans. The Bluehost chat is often times a nightmare to deal with, whether the chat program works at all after 15 minutes and more wait times or freezes as it did with me several times.


In particular, Web Hosting Hub uses BoldGrid as a site builder. BoldGrid is actually an add-on to WordPress, so there's no lock-in. This overcomes the major problem of most site builders: you're locked into that host and that tool, often requiring you to completely rebuild your site if you want to expand. By using a WordPress-based solution, all of the rather considerable power of WordPress is available for future expansion.
And not only are they not free, they are expensive and limited. Expect to pay a $149.99 migration fee to transfer over a maximum of five sites and 20 e-mail accounts. The company got bonus points for its policy of performing regular daily backups, even on the lowest-priced shared hosting accounts. It lost points because its promotional price on the low-cost shared hosting does go up after the promotional period. That said, Bluehost also gained points for offering 24-7 phone support and SSH access for certain plans.
They got other customer-centric bonuses for 24/7 support, including 24/7 toll-free callback phone support, free domain name and SSL certificates for as long as you remain a MochaHost customer, a website builder with 500 free templates (and a service that will custom-design your site if you need), a site migration service. In addition, all plans are e-commerce ready and come with free shopping cart software.
For the non-techies who want to use WordPress to create their website, BlueHost offers a special feature called the “WordPress 1 click install”. And it does exactly what it says, lets you install WordPress in seconds. This makes it possible to get your WordPress site running in seconds. Besides, there are also some WordPress related features and special support from WP experts that you can subscribe to.

Do I recommend Bluehost? Well yes and no because it depends what you're after. Really nice review. I have a blog at the moment and wanted to change from WordPress.com to WordPress.org but I heard in .Org the website often crash during website peak time. What would you suggest? I was sucked into the low price offer and the recommendation from WordPress.org, I did have good service for 3 years. I then noticed my Jetpack plugin show a lot of down time moments through out 3 year period. Also it is quite slow, and speed is important for ranking with google. But what stopped my trust was the renewal fee of $11 a month, that is more than 100% increase in price. I think someone managing Blue Host decided that since customers are on auto renewal, lets just double the price and we will be instantly rich.
