Bluehost Shared vs VPS

BlueHost offers plenty different types of services – the only notable exception is the lack of SSL certificates, which you can’t buy together with your purchase. You have to buy them from third-party providers or get one free of charge by setting up a WordPress website. And yet, with such a wide array of services, BlueHost try to be the Internet’s one-stop-shop for all things hosting. It is also worth noticing, that there are some extra features, available to all BlueHost customers, that make this provider all the more interesting. Here’s what they are:
There's some complicated elements to the interface, but after some learning and hiding things you don't use, it's tolerable. I've also had strange uptime issues over the years. Client emails have bounced due to perfectly good domains being blacklisted (blame it on other shared users on the same server). This is a problem which they reverse, but it takes time and people can't send their emails for a while.
Many services offer so-called unlimited or unmetered service for whatever amount of bandwidth, disk storage and sites you use. It's important to understand that most terms of service actually do limit the definition of "unlimited" to what's considered reasonable use. The bottom line is simple: if you're building a pretty basic website, unlimited means you don't need to worry. But if you're trying to do something excessive (or illegal, immoral or fattening), the fine print in the terms of service will trigger, and you'll either be asked to spend more or go elsewhere.
At first I thought it was a bad company, but when I tried it I found that this company was the best hosting company I used. Easy to use control panel and I don't the free SSL certificate, Unlimited email storge, unlimited bandwidth, free domain, 24/7/365 super support and many of the great features that I didn't get for free from a company before but I got it with BlueHost.
And then going onto VPS, simple backups taken using managewp or via FTP fail with 500 internal server error. Both of those work without issue on a shared plan, but I had to go to VPS for this site since the shared server had performance issues. So I go to VPS/dedicated support to ask what’s up with the server errors on a simple backup. What does Daniel (their support guy) tell me? “This is your server, go figure it out on your own.”
Comes with a free SSL certificate, a WordPress custom designed control panel and CloudFlare CDN is built directly into your account for free without any coding. Premium managed WP hosting comes with pre-installation of ManageWP, advanced security features such as daily scans for malware and vulnerabilities. SiteLock Security, Advanced CDN & SiteLock WAF. Dedicated backup storage and automated backups.
Let's Encrypt is a free Secure Socket Layer certificate that keeps your website traffic safe by encrypting the data that is transferred between our servers and their computer. Let's Encrypt allows you to enable your website to run in the secure HTTPS setting, as oppose to the open HTTP setting. Bluehost provides a free Let's Encrypt SSL for all website hosting plans and we enable it automatically. Our Let's Encrypt SSL certificate will secure any of your domains including subdomains at no additional cost.
I especially find it unacceptable when my friend didn’t get the support from Bluehost to fix anything. He has been paying almost double the price of what other hosting companies would charge for a similar package, and he’s not getting what he deserves to have out of this deal at all. Bottom line is, there’re better service providers out there who are more responsible and would cost less.
Not only is the platform affordable, it also provides lower-tier users with advanced features and excellent support as it would advanced ones. What’s great with the service is that it can help you exploit the most out of Google and Bing advertising. It also offers in-house services using its own fiber connections, data centers and Linux kernel running on custom servers. Bluehost’s web hosting plans are quite generous especially in terms of bandwidth. These packages entail extremely high bandwidths and storage space at very low prices.
The one and only reason I am giving this company a semi-decent review is mainly because of their ONE knowledgeable support agent. I would call in COUNTLESS times and request alanna keel to assist me with my server as EVERYONE else would keep me on hold for 30 minutes or more. I had my site migrated to my VPS account, which mind you, I PAID FOR!! Long story short, the migration was extremely messed up and my sites were all types of broken. After being on hold for an hour waiting for “Steven” the apparent manager to come to the phone (Apparently managers are too busy to attend to customers, WHO KNEW) I hung up and got an unexpected suprise when I called back. After explaining my frustration for the THIRD TIME, I got alanna who actually fixed my sites within 15 minutes. All 4 of them. Didnt even put me on hold. They were fixed before I ended my story, if were being completely honest. Bluehost needs more employees that know what they are doing. 2 years ago, I could call in and have my problem fixed in 2 minutes. These days, the support is so slow. ALSO DO NOT OPEN A CHAT, I DONT THINK THEY CAN UNDERSTAND SIMPLE ENGLISH. I feel bad for employees like Alanna, who are CLEARLY picking up the slack for the poorly trained agents they currently have, Unfortunately, after october I was unable to get in touch with my favorite agent so I ended up cancelling services with Bluehost and moved to Godaddy. I give Bluehost an 80/100 for one reason only. The superior support from ONE person I talked to out of 20. Host with caution!!!!!!

BlueHost is one in a group of four hosts all run by the same person (others in the group are HostMonster, JustHost, and FastDomain). BlueHost, the original host established in 1996, is one of the oldest; with over 1 million domains managed, it’s also one of the most popular. But the other services in the group pretty much provide the same features, so just pick the one with the best pricing for you, and realize that you’re tapping into the same resources and brains on the back end. Comparatively, BlueHost is the most expensive, but it has the best name recognition. The company knows what features are most popular, and they offer a low price for those features. The basics are provided – unlimited domains, emails, bandwidth, and disk space – and BlueHost throws in the free domain name when you purchase a year of hosting. For users who want the capability to handle mega-bandwidth, like businesses with robust e-commerce needs, there is a more expensive pro-level plan with SSL, a dedicated IP address, and a stronger CPU.

When I told them about this they immediately offered to refund my money - and they did this pretty fast. Their control panel is very intuitive an even though there are sponsored listings users have the choice to hide those bars. Uptime is also pretty good, and I really enjoy the performance that my blogs give. I can vouch for excellent performance when my blogs got traffic of up to 9000 uniques a day.

Parked Domain: Parked domains are domains that redirect to the content and the website that your main domain does. So, if your main domain is bakingstore.com, you may also want to have similar names like bakingstore.net, bakingstore.org, etc., as parked domains, because they are so similar. You get 5 of these with a basic package, and unlimited with plus, prime or business pro packages.
Before you ever send data to a hosting company, don’t you want to know how secure it is? Bluehost hosting has everything up to date under their servers’ hoods. With shared and dedicated SSL certificates, daily backups and a secure FTP process, Bluehost hosting knows what it means to keep your data safe. If you think about it, this can be one of the selling features for your product as your customers want to know if their personal and private financial information is in good hands before they give you a dime.

Site5 offers 3 pricing plans. The first, “hostBasic” is $6.95 per month, which allows you to have one website and free migrations. The second plan, “hostPro+Turbo” is $11.95 per month, which offers 24/7 live chat support, free migrations, and a free dedicated IP. The last plan, “hostPro” comes at $8.95 and offers unlimited websites and free migrations.
These guys are awesome, I've had them for three years and they are always up and running (unless you download and install the wrong plug-in for your wordpress site)... but you can call their customer support and within minutes, they'll have you up and running and excluding my plug-in error, the server has been up 100% of the time (and I have about 30 domains with full sites... they're not pointed or parked)... definitely get them!!1
With Bluehost, new site owners have the drag-and-drop simplicity of Weebly (website builder) and goMobi (mobile site builder) at their fingertips. This makes launching a new online brand, store, or personal site from scratch relatively painless. Sure, site building has its headaches for newbies, but the Bluehost team is ready and willing to assist you every step of the way.

Never again. When you see ‘Unlimited’ or ‘Unmetered’ - instead read “THROTTLED”. After a year of countless issues with slow server response and database connection errors, we finally reached the last straw after having our hosting account de-activated for purportedly being infected with ‘malware’. After hiring a third party developer to verify that our site was solely experiencing server issues, we migrated to a new host and have experienced ZERO errors. Also - know that the Site Backup Pro service is BROKEN, and does not allow you access to the back-ups that are included in the hosting plan. Support was more than willing to restore the back-ups for me, but REFUSED to give me copies, despite me providing multiple instances of documentation where I was promised and encouraged to download them to my computer. Probably because they knew I would be using the back-ups to escape their clutches. Other than that, Support is incompetent. SSL is buggy. Prepare for errors to pop up out of the blue. Beware Bluehost.

Bluehost’s primary goal was to develop the best possible hosting company. Their center, under Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, was created through the use of open source technology. It currently houses well over 700 people, with the special skills required to achieve greater success and growth, year after year. Owned by EIG, Mike Olson is the current CEO of Bluehost and the man who spearheads the company’s 700+ team of talented staff members.
Their setup process is very easy, the service is reliable, and they have stand-out customer service. It's responsive and clear. They also have a large and helpful library of resources to make it easy to troubleshoot on your own. The service is reliable for the most part, and the interface/dashboard is clear and easy to use. If you use WordPress, Bluehost has a dedicated service for hosting WordPress sites.
First thing’s first—when it comes to web hosting, speed is very important. Some search engines are now using page speed as a ranking factor in their search results, so slower-loading websites may be shown below faster-loading websites. This means that it’s very important to choose a web host with fast servers who is good at managing their resources, especially on shared servers.
I'm using BlueHost Since last 2 to 3 Years, I found BlueHost to be reliable and customer friendly hosting service. Their 24/7 customer support is among the best. That’s why I love this Hosting Platform, and they give all time Something Amazing Like 150$ foAdvertisingnt oAdWordsds. I'm Happy and Feel always Free about my Hosting Issues. I'm using their Shared hosting Plan and Get Everything Unlimited.
Bluehost is not a host for everyone due to its server limitations. However, there are a wide variety of individuals and businesses that are suited for this type of host. This a popular host among bloggers, and its shared hosting and WordPress hosting plans are more than capable of powering even the most traffic-heavy blogs. There’s even a cheap option for first-time bloggers.
This is an entirely different case from my experience with a similarly-priced shared host called MDDHosting (read my full review), where I've been hosting TechTage.com since 2011. As they're a much smaller, independent company (not a part of a bigger operation), they feel much "closer to the customers", and they proactively upgrade server hardware as newer technologies hit the market.
The Cpanel is provided alongside a number of other features in a customized Bluehost control panel. Cpanel is the first in a number of tabs that offer access to domain search and domain management, site builders, upgrades, dedicated IP settings, Postini anti-spam software, profile and billing details screens, and SSL certificate administration. Some of these features cost extra.

For each load impact test, an increasing number of virtual users (see the blue line on the graphs below) accessed the sites over a five-minute period, going up to 50 simultaneous virtual visitors. The green line on the charts displays the virtual user load time — or how long it took for the page to display. An increasing graph suggests degrading performance, while a flat graph suggests stability. For the load impact testing, the multipurpose Divi theme was used.

Mojo Marketplace is an online marketplace where you can install free apps that deal with building websites. You can download major website builders like WordPress and Drupal, you can download website themes, you can download eCommerce plugins, etc. Most of the apps offered on Mojo Marketplace are free elsewhere, but what makes Mojo Marketplace so special is the fact that users can download and install the apps with the click of a button.

It is only fair to put the hosting plans at Bluehost in the affordable hosting services category. To sweeten the deal further, Blue host has agreed to offer 63% discount on their shared hosting plan along with a free domain name for visitors of intairnet.org. So, if you use our exclusive Bluehost Coupon Code, you can get their hosting at just $2.95 a month. Formed in 2003, Bluehost has long been one of the foremost shared hosts on the planet, and they now power more than two million websites. What’s more, Bluehost is on a short list of providers with the official WordPress seal of approval, doled out by the WordPress Core team. With an experienced team, competitive pricing, and always-there support, Bluehost is King when it comes to WordPress hosting services.
When purchasing any hosting plan with Bluehost, you automatically agree and pay for at least a 12-month plan up front. You have the added options of a 24 or 36-month plan but Bluehost does not offer a monthly plan. For startups and starter sites this large upfront cost can really stretch an already tight budget and might turn away some potential customers. If however, you are committed to being in business at least a year then you will still find that Bluehost has one of the best hosting deals around.
I am not incredibly savvy when it comes to creating and managing a website, so I was confused about the different levels of purchase available. I was not sure what level of traffic I would receive on my blog, or the type of advertisement options I might want available. I also was not sure about affiliate programs. Blue Host also prompts you to use Word Press, which is fine for my site, but may not work for others. I think the push to use this specific secondary source as a blog site might interfere with the work you do online.

Because Amazon‘s free web hosting tier doesn’t offer many of the features some of the other web hosts mentioned here do, it may serve us better to look at the pricing surrounding their paid services. We published an article covering Amazon Web Services’s flexible pay-as-you-go model for its cloud infrastructure service. For businesses that don’t want to commit large chunks of their budgets to hosting in the long term, AWS might be a good fit. However, the host does come in as the most expensive option on our list.
I am hosting 8 websites for clients and my own on bluehost…… have been using bluehost for over 10 years and have always received reliable help whether from chat, phone, or email. I am not a novice but I still run into problems at times and I have always gotten my problem solved with one contact. When i started converting all my sites to joomla! they were always there for my questions, no matter how trivial….. The only thing I can add is there are a good bunch of Good Ole’ boys!!!
Not only is Blue Host extremely easy to set-up and use, it is also a competitive price. I was able to purchase my domain name, for my blog about education, using a prorated plan. Even if you are not sure how long you will be active on the Internet, or use your site, Blue Host's options for purchase offer competitive, realistic hosting rates. I purchased my domain name for three years. It was much cheaper than other hosting sites. The customer service options are also excellent. I receive updates on my site, information on how to improve, and general updates.

Having used Bluehost for the past 4 years I’m surprised at the number of negative reviews here. I have several domains, databases, blogs, image galleries, etc. and all have been running fine. There have been a couple brief outages. Customer service and technical support were both excellent. I was able to talk to a person quickly and they helped me out within a few minutes. I am not a full-time web developer. I basically run my site as part of my business, but I have helped out associates with their websites and have found their web hosts to be a real pain compared to Bluehost. With Bluehost all my installed apps and scripts work like a charm. I would recommend Bluehost

BlueHost’s basic package price is average, but what really stands out is the lack of a money-back guarantee. This is especially bad when you consider the big price break comes with a three year contract: if you sign up for the long-term and suddenly find that your site is down regularly, there’s no way to switch hosts or to get your money back. If you have major bandwidth needs, the pro-level plan isn’t really competitively priced. This is really a better web host for individuals and companies that never anticipate growing past a certain level.
Before you spend a dime on online services – hosting included – wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly what you’re paying for? Bluehost hosting gives you a true taste of what it’s like to be one of their customers by giving you demo access to a fully functional cPanel. Since the cPanel is what you will use to manage your entire website, showing you a stripped-down version of this program would be to do you a disservice. The complete demonstration is a smart move, as the features in cPanel are robust and user-friendly. By the time you make a purchase decision, you know exactly what you getting yourself into.

Really nice review. I have a blog at the moment and wanted to change from WordPress.com to WordPress.org but I heard in .Org the website often crash during website peak time. What would you suggest? Which provider and plan should I purchase so that I don’t have to worry about my site being crashed (should be affordable too). I plan to start another blog soon.

GoDaddy is exceptionally well-known in the hosting space — deemed the World's #1 Domain Name Registrar. They make it incredibly easy and affordable for folks to choose a domain name, sign up for hosting, and start building their online business or personal web property. While known for their domain, email, and shared hosting services, GoDaddy offers options for virtual and dedicated servers as well. They make the upgrade process as seamless as possible, so you shouldn't shy away from scaling your site as your business needs grow.

Last week I received an email from them stating that ‘Emergency Maintenance” was required on my box, and that it would entail 30-90 minutes of downtime. Not so. They completely broke my site, and I am unable to get through to their technical support, so I have critical data trapped in a database I can’t access because they scrambled the configuration. I can’t even put up a temporary site on a dynamic host to keep my business running! SO PISSED right now.
