How Easy Is Bluehost To Use

In order to put these hosts to the test, I monitored their uptime for an entire year using Dotcom-Monitor’s ServerView platform. Each website hosted on Bluehost and Hostgator was pinged every 3 hours from multiple datacenters in North America. Testing over a long period of time is important because it helps to create a larger sample size with more data points. 12 months is a fairly long term test when it comes monitoring and this length of time gives a pretty fair assessment of the reliability of a host. Having a test that goes for 12 months ensure that each host had the opportunity to recover from downtime here and there and still have a decent long term average for uptime and reliability of their servers.

The bottom line is that for a mere dollar per month you can get started with GoDaddy's website builder plan and choose from hundreds of theme options to start designing the site of your dreams. See it as a free website builder with hosting that costs a dollar per month, or a dollar per month spent on a site builder with the hosting included for free — either way it's a pretty sweet deal.
“With Bluehost, new site owners have the drag-and-drop simplicity of Weebly (website builder) and goMobi (mobile site builder) at their fingertips. This makes launching a new online brand, store, or personal site from scratch relatively painless. Sure, site building has its headaches for newbies, but the Bluehost team is ready and willing to assist you every step of the way.
I usually make use of their support chat and you are able to talk to a real person, someone that knows WordPress and website technicalities very well. One major reason why I love BlueHost is because their support system is fantastic and they are knowledgeable on all issues. From my personal experience during these 7 years, if you need a reliable and affordable hosting, that fit on your pocket, go for BlueHost , frankly, you won't regret it.
I started with a plain shared website. Performance was horrible. Was upsold on a more expensive plan, improved somewhat but ended up with a another upsell just to move my site to another server because support was unwilling to help with issue that was plaguing the old server. After a couple month of trouble free time on the new cloud server, issues started popping up again. Frequent server down times or restarts, random reverse proxy or load ballancer timeouts. As soon as I can find a block of time to migrate my web site I am leaving.
While disappointing, it is still admirable that the agent has admitted to not knowing something as opposed to offering me an expensive service package. Overall, I can say that the agent was courteous but didn’t provide me with the help I needed. Nonetheless, if you like using phone support and don’t have many difficult questions, this might be a pretty good option.
Speed: Surprisingly, HostGator’s speed response time test was disappointing. Nevertheless, given the cost of the service, the results are still within reasonable limits. The tests resulted to 45ms average response time for DomainTools and an average of 53ms for Bitctcha’s results. These tests were done from servers based in the US, so the results were as expected. What’s surprising are the speed tests done from servers located at different parts of the globe. Most results came in at an average of 200ms – and with servers from London just going a little above 300ms. Given these numbers, HostGator’s shared web hosting server speeds are average in the US and are impressive abroad.
However…I have noticed that in the past 6 months or so, HostGator’s support is not what it used to be. I had a ticket open and waited days for an answer, to the point that the technician apologized and issued me a month’s refund for having to wait so long. Sometimes their chat support hangs and the wait times are more than 20 minutes. They also ask you to sign in to get chat support if you’re an existing customer, which I think makes sense, but it seems like a bit of a nuisance to me.

HostGator promises that pages load at blazing speed worldwide without having to configure your caching and CDN. Experience up to 2.5X faster load times due to super charged cloud architecture, low-density servers, CDN, and multiple caching layers. Your website content is managed more efficiently, enabling dynamic content requests to be processed lightning-fast
The one and only reason I am giving this company a semi-decent review is mainly because of their ONE knowledgeable support agent. I would call in COUNTLESS times and request alanna keel to assist me with my server as EVERYONE else would keep me on hold for 30 minutes or more. I had my site migrated to my VPS account, which mind you, I PAID FOR!! Long story short, the migration was extremely messed up and my sites were all types of broken. After being on hold for an hour waiting for “Steven” the apparent manager to come to the phone (Apparently managers are too busy to attend to customers, WHO KNEW) I hung up and got an unexpected suprise when I called back. After explaining my frustration for the THIRD TIME, I got alanna who actually fixed my sites within 15 minutes. All 4 of them. Didnt even put me on hold. They were fixed before I ended my story, if were being completely honest. Bluehost needs more employees that know what they are doing. 2 years ago, I could call in and have my problem fixed in 2 minutes. These days, the support is so slow. ALSO DO NOT OPEN A CHAT, I DONT THINK THEY CAN UNDERSTAND SIMPLE ENGLISH. I feel bad for employees like Alanna, who are CLEARLY picking up the slack for the poorly trained agents they currently have, Unfortunately, after october I was unable to get in touch with my favorite agent so I ended up cancelling services with Bluehost and moved to Godaddy. I give Bluehost an 80/100 for one reason only. The superior support from ONE person I talked to out of 20. Host with caution!!!!!!
You can tell that first and foremost this host attempts to cater for the people who want to use WordPress. Daily backups and free SSL in a shared hosting plan is very attractive. This is why I’ve decided to do a BlueHost review using one of these plans exactly – to see whether it provides the clients with quick and reliable hosting on top of the extra features.
Bluehost provides some helpful stuff for not much money. It gives you options to register a domain and provides you with hosting as well. They have several one click installs for popular CMS (drupal, wordpress, etc). Unfortunately, not all of these were working when I was using this and I was unable to install Drupal 8 using the one-click install (drupal 7 worked fine though). The backend can be somewhat confusing to navigate, and it is not helped by the fact that a lot of bluehost's documentation seems to be out of date.

I've used Bluehost for quite awhile. They said I was hacked once in 2016 and my accounts were all frozen and taken offline while I backed up my files and deleted them from the server. They couldn't show me proof of anything and offered a pay service of theirs to do a sweep, clean and check, which I declined. That was really the only major issue I ever had with them. Otherwise, their web hosting services and options have been a great solution.

I use HostGator for many of my small projects mainly because of how they structure their pricing & features. You’ll want to check out HostGator with a 60% off discount here as well. I’ve written a focused Bluehost review here. I have clients who love them – and use their email and domain services as well. I’ve found that every brand has tradeoffs – there is no overall “best” – there is only the best for you based on your goals & preferences. For example, this site specifically uses InMotion VPS Hosting – which has a big emphasis on customer service & performance.
In particular, Web Hosting Hub uses BoldGrid as a site builder. BoldGrid is actually an add-on to WordPress, so there's no lock-in. This overcomes the major problem of most site builders: you're locked into that host and that tool, often requiring you to completely rebuild your site if you want to expand. By using a WordPress-based solution, all of the rather considerable power of WordPress is available for future expansion.
Lastly they started to not to accept my credit card. I used the same card for years on their site without any problem. They said try different cards. We tried lots of different cards and their service refused all of them with nonsense errors. Even our banks couldn’t understand what is going on. We are using the same credit cards all over the world without any problem.

Based on my experience with both companies – and talking with people who use both as well – I’ve found GoDaddy’s support to be adequate. I always have to wait several minutes on the phone. I always have to explain a couple times what my issue is. But overall, they get the job done, and my problem fixed. No horror stories – just nothing super-special.
With award-winning security monitoring, GoDaddy support is not only available around the clock to help you troubleshoot issues with your server but they're keeping an eye on your server status. They offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which isn't significant in the hosting industry, but their team is committed to keeping your site online and running speedily. They offer premier DDoS protection, anti-hacking services, and other SiteLock security add-ons. GoDaddy managed hosting customers benefit from the assurance that the experts will facilitate security patches, bug fixes, and site backups. In general, customer support is an element of the hosting experience that GoDaddy is consistently striving to improve in their offerings.
Bluehost also lets you set up non-managed WordPress sites. When you click the control panel's WordPress icon, you're taken to the Mojo Marketplace, from which you can install the WordPress app. Like iPage, Bluehost lets you set up a fresh WordPress installation or directly import an existing one. Installation is straightforward, and you can browse through the marketplace for additional themes and applications.
No free SSL certificate but global CDN, automatic malware removal using SiteLock security is included for free with HostGator's managed WordPress hosting plans, which gives you HackAlert monitoring service that checks your website daily and immediately notifies you if your website has been hacked or injected with malicious code. CodeGuard automatic website backup is also included. Get daily automated website backup for all web files and databases with a 1-click restore.
Not only is Blue Host extremely easy to set-up and use, it is also a competitive price. I was able to purchase my domain name, for my blog about education, using a prorated plan. Even if you are not sure how long you will be active on the Internet, or use your site, Blue Host's options for purchase offer competitive, realistic hosting rates. I purchased my domain name for three years. It was much cheaper than other hosting sites. The customer service options are also excellent. I receive updates on my site, information on how to improve, and general updates.
What can I say? You get what you paid for — bad customer service and a complete lack of respect for its customers, plus an automatic renewal feature that borders on fraudulent. In case your wondering, they’re out of Provo UT; the address is 1958 S 950 East Provo, UT 84606 — just in case you need to make a call to the Utah Attorney General’s office….

Choosing the best web hosting for a small business website is one of the most important steps you’ll need to consider to get off on the right foot. Our themes are app themes so they will run much faster on a host which values speed for its customers. We also consider value for money whenever we recommend any best WordPress hosting company to our valued customers.
SSL certificates are small data files installed on website pages (login screens, payment pages, or online forms) that require users to submit sensitive information, such as name, credit card information, or passwords. SSL certificates can also be installed on web servers, which enables the use of the more secure HTTPS protocol and therefore a secure connection.
I am an entrepreneur who runs a personal business site and I have nothing but positive things to say about bluehost.com. Bluehost has everything I could ask for in a domain host, plus more. Like most web hosts, bluehost offers MySQL databases (which I require for running my customer forum) and blog support (I post my updates through WordPress). Bluehost supports a wide variety of scripts, which is useful because I frequently incorporate applications into my site that run on Javascript, Flash, Ruby, and Shockwave. All of these features, plus more, made me consider bluehost as my host, but what really drew me to bluehost was their 24/7 US-based support system and their SSH Secure Shell Access. These two features allow me to make sure that my customers always receive successful and secure service. I highly recommend bluehost if you are looking to start your own business, or already have one and need a great web host!
Each of our contenders has their strengths. While GoDaddy leads the industry in email and domain hosting services, Bluehost remains one of the top VPS and dedicated server providers. Bluehost specializes in WordPress, but GoDaddy lets you download and install the blogging software with a single click via cPanel. Bottom line: These are market-leading hosts. Follow the one with the services that most closely match your hosting needs.
Though inherently a blogging tool, WordPress can be manipulated into a web builder, CMS, or online gallery editor, and it’s been called all of the above. WordPress is highly customizable, and sites built with it can easily be tailored to match any brand aesthetic. WordPress hosting packages are very reasonably priced, and it’s easy to get started. We recommend InMotion Hosting if you’re interested in building a site with WordPress.

If you have a lot of traffic on your website, it may become slow and crash a lot, this will turn off potential visitors. One way around this is to use a content delivery network, which makes it so that the content of your website is hosted on different servers in different geographic areas. Users will download the content from the nearest geographic server. Bluehost comes with Cloudflare built directly into it; Cloudflare is a top of the line content delivery network. You can enable it on any of your sites, absolutely free.

We don’t know what has allowed the hack to take place, especially given that my friend had purchased the sitelock function with Bluehost. I was concerned that it would happen again, so I wanted to zip up his current root folder to create a backup on the server. You know, I just don’t want to download potentially contaminated files onto my computer plus he’s got a huge root folder. I tried zipping up his files in the file manager inside cPanel, it takes forever and I never ended up seeing the finished compressed file in the server. I then tried to create a backup via ManageWP. ManageWP generated an error that had to do with the server killing compression processes due to timeout issues. So I got on live chat with Bluehost on my friend’s behalf. I began the chat with them at 11am and now it’s 1:04pm. The guy I chatted with wasn’t able to fix it, and he just transferred me to another person when I hadn’t had a chance to see what he’s typed yet. Now I’m with another person and may have to waste even more time for him to say the same thing the last rep did. The last rep basically asked me to use FTP clients like filezilla. I told him that filezilla doesn’t have the function to compress files in remote servers. He then asked if I knew about SSH… However, zipping up a folder in your server shouldn’t be this huge hassle at all. I have hosting accounts with 2 other companies, and their file managers can compress my root folders under 20 minutes even if they’re large files.

The tech support will treat you like an idiot for trying to have a site with 30gb and having a backup of it. So all in all I have paid more money still have same problem and no real help from Bluehost. I had some of the best service in the past when I was on the shared hosting. If you need something better than shared I would look at SoftLayer or someone else.
In July 2003, Matt and his team purchase bluehost.com, chose the infamous cPanel as their control panel, and custom coded the billing system, affiliate system, and signup system from scratch. This custom coding separated them from their competition because they were able to automate many procedures which left them more time to focus on sales and optimization.
You can grab email-marketing tools such as DaDa Mail (starting at $34.95 per year), software that lets you send email-based newsletters to a subscriber list. For an online store or the ability to accept payments, you can get e-commerce applications such as Magento, ShopSite (for shopping cart software), and TransFirst payment gateway. With Magento, I was able to create an attractive store by dragging and dropping website elements. Magento has more flexibility than ShopSite, but if you aren't looking for an elaborate online storefront, ShopSite's simpler interface may get you up and running faster. For small businesses, that time savings may be worth it.
The Pro Plan gives you everything the Prime Plan offers but you get a higher performance server, dedicated IP address, and an SSL certificate. This plan is ideal for high traffic sites and ecommerce sites which benefit more from faster load times and advanced security features. The high-performance server means a better user experience and the SSL certificate gives you a more secure website which will encrypt sensitive information like credit cards from those with malicious intent.
Normal operation is tested and gauged each month using a variety of analysis methods. If they do find that someone is hogging space by not following the terms and conditions, they’ll try to give them 48 hours to adjust their site — or they might shut them down. The biggest issues come in when customers use their unlimited and unmetered sites for storage and file sharing. They note that there are not “infinite resources”, and that there are “inherent maximums” that come along with technology.
If you cancel within 30 days and your plan includes a free domain, Bluehost will deduct a non-refundable domain fee of 15.99 from your refund. This not only covers our costs, but ensures that you won't lose your domain name. You may transfer it to another registrar or simply point it elsewhere at your convenience. Please note newly registered domains cannot be transferred to another registrar during the first 60 days of the registration period. You retain ownership of your domain until the end of its registration period unless you renew it.
In this comparison, we’ll look at entry-level plans for Bluehost, GoDaddy and SiteGround to find out what’s included in each, consider any specific extras for WordPress users, and take a look at both performance and uptime — with real testing and data (using two very different WordPress themes: the current default theme, ‘Twenty Seventeen’, and ‘Divi’ by Elegant Themes) for each service.

Having used Bluehost for the past 4 years I’m surprised at the number of negative reviews here. I have several domains, databases, blogs, image galleries, etc. and all have been running fine. There have been a couple brief outages. Customer service and technical support were both excellent. I was able to talk to a person quickly and they helped me out within a few minutes. I am not a full-time web developer. I basically run my site as part of my business, but I have helped out associates with their websites and have found their web hosts to be a real pain compared to Bluehost. With Bluehost all my installed apps and scripts work like a charm. I would recommend Bluehost
I would put ZERO stars If I could Blue host/ Just Host They have absolutely no customer service; I had a dedicated VPS server that cost me over $300.00 USD every 3 months First problem, they upgrade their servers and My Image framework disappears, I call them and they don't want to accept any responsibility that cost me $3,000 AUD to get the coding rewritten. The moron on the phone from customer “VPS Dedicated Support” told me to read the fine print on the agreement, and he could connect me to accounts to close my account. Is there any way to report this behaviour to upper management, No there is not! I sent a message to the CEO of Blue host on Facebook and through LinkedIn. No answer, Nothing! I sent the same message to the CEO of Endurance and received no reply either. I posted my experience on Face book, it was totally ignored! No reply, nothing. Then a year later my website is completely erased from the server, I call them, Guess what? The phone number on the Australian Blue host website is out of order, and the message is in Spanish, Really? Yes, in Spanish. Now there is no phone number on the Oz just host website. There is a Chat that the morons who answer. Answer your questions with questions. Like “How are you”? Or “this is the website address that you can find the answer to your question” Or go to the website and take a ticket and wait with bated breath. If you are lucky the ticket gets answered with a totally irrelevant question a week later. So if your business is reliant on your website you are in deep trouble. So I call Blue host direct on an international call, after waiting over 35 minutes, I finally get to speak to the support. They tell me it is my problem and I am responsible to have backed up the site and my web developer must have erased the site. I told this unhelpful imbecile that my Web developer does not have the passwords for the account. He insisted that there was no way that it could have erased itself. Really? So I must be lying and I erased the website. I told him to check and see what has happened. Guess what he told me? He said, he has no access to my C Panel or account, so he has no Idea what had happed. In the C Panel there is backup feature. Not once did this so called support “VPS specialist” ask me if it was backed up. I then put this to him; again he said he has no access so he could not check. Thank fully a few days prior I uploaded a clone to another server to make some upgrades to the site. I used the clone to upload the site back on the server. If you are wondering about the C Panel auto back up, yes I did configure it. And it’s junk. The backup files and the ten behind it were corrupted, completely useless. So I am over these useless lazy incompetent fools. I am out! I have lost enough money, I am over Blue Host. A few days later I went to my account to remove another website I had on a Sub C Panel. Guess what? I am locked out of the account and it is asking for money, that’s funny I have auto pay set up. So I click pay, it is static, nothing happens. So I click PayPal, again nothing happens, it is static, So I ring them direct on an international call. After more than 45 minutes I get through to accounts. I tell them what has happened and they treated me like I was lying. I told them to check the payment in my account as it is not working. Again they did not believe me. I was about to lose it with these rude people. I demanded that they check. After 55 minutes they came back and agree there is a glitch. They told me to go the site and take a ticket. I lost it and told them to take my credit card over the phone as I need to get into my account. They tell me they cannot take cards over the phone. That was it! I told them to unlock my account as I was not going to pay for what is their problem. The person on the phone put me on hold. While he spoke to his supervisor. Half an hour passed and he finally told me that they would give me grace for one month and unlock the account. I said to him “grace” what do you mean grace I am happy to pay and you cannot take my money. So I migrated everything out of that pathetic Companies server. Two months later I logged into that account and the payment glitch was still there. I don’t understand that there is no accountability at all. They later removed the Australian contact number from the website. Imagine if Crazy’s or Go Daddy did that. So Australians must be fleeing in droves. People like me who run a business and depend on their website for their success of their business and income, are not going to put up with this lack of customer care. Only options for customer service are to talk to a chat room run by lazy idiots, or is it Bots? Who only answer questions with questions, which fob you off to the tickets and website? The reviews are disgusting and reflect even more negatives than I expressed. Blue Host / Just Host have the worst reviews that any other company (1) And in Australia there is phone contact unless they know Blue host’s phone number is the same company as Just Host and it’s at international call rates. (2) It takes at least 25 minutes to get through by phone. (3) No real people in support who are tech savvy or helpful (4) Unstable servers (5) They don’t look after the customers interests (6) Absolutely no accountability, Rude (7) Tickets hardly get answered and if they do it’s a week later with stupid irrelevant content. THE WORST HOSTING COMPANY IN MY 25 YEARS IN IT. Webmaster Ability Classifieds.com So much for your money back guarantee that is a Fake offer That Blue Host / Just Host just refers to the “Fine Print”
ite because of their internal decision to end VPS hosting. There was absolutely no forewarning, no email, no advance anything. My site was just closed, all content is restricted, its been a full week now with no solution on their part. My paid contract runs another 6 months. They are offline in their chat and take an average of 3-4 days to respond to our emails. I understand that they have decided to terminate my VPS set-up. That is their prerogative. But to fail to contact the client, restrict the site, and then not answer emails is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable in the realm of web hosting. Please please please learn from my experience and take your hosting elsewhere. At this point we have our fingers crossed just to restore our content before migrating to another hosting platform.
No free SSL certificate but global CDN, automatic malware removal using SiteLock security is included for free with HostGator's managed WordPress hosting plans, which gives you HackAlert monitoring service that checks your website daily and immediately notifies you if your website has been hacked or injected with malicious code. Just got off a call with Joe from support, been working on launching the site, and he was super helpful. As a person that had no clue how to set up a website it was really important for me to find a company with affordable pricing, one that has helpful resources, and great support. When i first wanted to start my websites, i search how to set up my blog and found lots of resources on how to do it on bluehost; when i encountered issues installing a theme i contacted support and they were really helpful. The rep was nice enough that he suggested couple of plugin to help me with my SEO stuff. So far been really happy with bluehost!
