They have organized the sections and added their own icons to the benefit of the overall appearance of the control panel.
Because Bluehost is so large and shares resources with sister companies, they can offer some of the cheapest prices for hosting. And for incredibly low prices, Bluehost plans cover most of the basics, like Wordpress hosting, VPS, solid security features, and tons of free tools to boot. But at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Bluehost customer service is lacking, the uptime is shoddy, and their speed leaves much to be desired. Webmasters on a budget who don't anticipate a lot of traffic or support tickets will find everything they're looking for with Bluehost pricing. But if greater reliability is important to you, it's worth it to shell out the extra cash for a more customer-oriented host like SiteGround or WP Engine.
I was with Bluehost shared hosting for years until they started outbound filtering of email which causes the mail forwarding set in cpanel to break. The effect of the change was that you would get some mail forwarded, but other mail would drop and you would never know. However…I have noticed that in the past 6 months or so, HostGator’s support is not what it used to be. I had a ticket open and waited days for an answer, to the point that the technician apologized and issued me a month’s refund for having to wait so long. Sometimes their chat support hangs and the wait times are more than 20 minutes. They also ask you to sign in to get chat support if you’re an existing customer, which I think makes sense, but it seems like a bit of a nuisance to me.
I've used Bluehost for quite awhile. They said I was hacked once in 2016 and my accounts were all frozen and taken offline while I backed up my files and deleted them from the server. They couldn't show me proof of anything and offered a pay service of theirs to do a sweep, clean and check, which I declined. That was really the only major issue I ever had with them. Otherwise, their web hosting services and options have been a great solution.
We don’t know what has allowed the hack to take place, especially given that my friend had purchased the sitelock function with Bluehost. I was concerned that it would happen again, so I wanted to zip up his current root folder to create a backup on the server. You know, I just don’t want to download potentially contaminated files onto my computer plus he’s got a huge root folder. I tried zipping up his files in the file manager inside cPanel, it takes forever and I never ended up seeing the finished compressed file in the server. I then tried to create a backup via ManageWP. ManageWP generated an error that had to do with the server killing compression processes due to timeout issues. So I got on live chat with Bluehost on my friend’s behalf. I began the chat with them at 11am and now it’s 1:04pm. The guy I chatted with wasn’t able to fix it, and he just transferred me to another person when I hadn’t had a chance to see what he’s typed yet. Now I’m with another person and may have to waste even more time for him to say the same thing the last rep did. The last rep basically asked me to use FTP clients like filezilla. I told him that filezilla doesn’t have the function to compress files in remote servers. He then asked if I knew about SSH… However, zipping up a folder in your server shouldn’t be this huge hassle at all. I have hosting accounts with 2 other companies, and their file managers can compress my root folders under 20 minutes even if they’re large files.
