Bluehost Hosting Plans
Bluehost recognizes that most people start basic websites in order to expand their marketing efforts and brand presence. So included in your Bluehost plan is a bevvy of complimentary e-commerce, shopping cart, email, and marketing applications. Google Apps and CloudFlare are two examples, and all of these apps integrate seamlessly and are incredibly user-friendly. You don’t need to be a developer to figure out the free applications that will undoubtedly be useful for any small business.
Their setup process is very easy, the service is reliable, and they have stand-out customer service. It's responsive and clear. They also have a large and helpful library of resources to make it easy to troubleshoot on your own. The service is reliable for the most part, and the interface/dashboard is clear and easy to use. If you use WordPress, Bluehost has a dedicated service for hosting WordPress sites.
BlueHost's shared hosting is not only fast but reliable with good customer support. I am also using the Cloudflare CDN which BlueHost and it has really improved the site's loading speed. So far, my site has been down only for once and that was just a few days after I switched to BlueHost. However, their customer support was fast in responding to my issue and they got it resolved within half an hour.
There's some complicated elements to the interface, but after some learning and hiding things you don't use, it's tolerable. I've also had strange uptime issues over the years. Client emails have bounced due to perfectly good domains being blacklisted (blame it on other shared users on the same server). This is a problem which they reverse, but it takes time and people can't send their emails for a while.
A year of my time was spent building and working on my website, and suddenly the entire website DISAPPEARED. There was no help available and it meant nothing to them. The year (and the money) I had spent developing all aspects of this marketing effort were lost in a heartbeat with no alternatives or anyone who even cared -- it was nothing to a technician at Bluehost -- business as usual. I have let all of the domains and the websites I have with them expire. Spend more time and money for what? AN INCAPABLE WEBHOST! DO NOT TRUST.
The Plus Plan is ideal for those looking for more space and more flexibility. This plan gives you the option to host unlimited websites, and with it you get unmetered space for your site. This plan is ideal for sites looking to grow fast, developers, and serial entrepreneurs. You still get a free domain, but as an added bonus you get unlimited email accounts, email storage, and subdomains where the basic plan will limit you in those areas.
In order to put these hosts to the test, I monitored their uptime for an entire year using Dotcom-Monitor’s ServerView platform. Each website hosted on Bluehost and Hostgator was pinged every 3 hours from multiple datacenters in North America. Testing over a long period of time is important because it helps to create a larger sample size with more data points. 12 months is a fairly long term test when it comes monitoring and this length of time gives a pretty fair assessment of the reliability of a host. Having a test that goes for 12 months ensure that each host had the opportunity to recover from downtime here and there and still have a decent long term average for uptime and reliability of their servers.
I am hosting 8 websites for clients and my own on bluehost…… have been using bluehost for over 10 years and have always received reliable help whether from chat, phone, or email. I am not a novice but I still run into problems at times and I have always gotten my problem solved with one contact. When i started converting all my sites to joomla! they were always there for my questions, no matter how trivial….. The only thing I can add is there are a good bunch of Good Ole’ boys!!!
For each load impact test, an increasing number of virtual users (see the blue line on the graphs below) accessed the sites over a five-minute period, going up to 50 simultaneous virtual visitors. The green line on the charts displays the virtual user load time — or how long it took for the page to display. An increasing graph suggests degrading performance, while a flat graph suggests stability. For the load impact testing, the multipurpose Divi theme was used.
MySQL – If you plan to have a lot of data on your site or you want to collect a lot of data with your website, then you will need MySQL to do that. Bluehost gives you the tools you need so you can not only collect but process and manage all the data you want. As we mentioned, there are different packages you can choose to ensure that you have enough storage space for everything.
In July 2003, Matt and his team purchase bluehost.com, chose the infamous cPanel as their control panel, and custom coded the billing system, affiliate system, and signup system from scratch. This custom coding separated them from their competition because they were able to automate many procedures which left them more time to focus on sales and optimization.
Plus, they're one of only 3 hosting companies worldwide to be officially recommended by the WordPress organization. Why was Bluehost chosen? WordPress states that it's because they provide an optimal environment for WordPress versus meeting just the minimal requirements. I also like the fact that Bluehost has WordPress experts on staff to assist clients 24/7 with any aspect of your site or hosting.
People simply browsing the Bluehost website will be able to hop into a quick live chat with a sales assistant. I actually had a chance to try this out. I asked them a question about their server locations and the resulting customer service was great. They answered my question quickly and politely asked if they could help me get started hosting with them.

Bluehost hosting puts you in the driver’s seat when it comes to your website design, and they make it so easy that you don’t need to have any experience. At one point, hiring a web designer might’ve been part of your marketing strategy, but now it need not be. Bluehost plans provide complimentary website design software with drag-and-drop technology, allowing you to design the site yourself with ease. This kind of software is quite literally called WYSIWYG – what you see is what you get. It means you don’t have to be proficient in computer programming to customize your website the way you want it.
One main feature of Bluehost is they offer unlimited bandwidth. This is perfect for budding bloggers whose traffic would grow over time. Many other hosting don’t offer unlimited hosting & they shut down website once traffic grows. With Bluehost this is a big relief as you can focus on growing your blog rather than worrying about other hosting issues.
My company has been using BlueHost as a web host for a few years now, and all of my dealings with them have been unnecessarily complicated - even regarding what should be simple fixes and queries. For one, the lack of a Support Ticket system is asinine. I was left on-and-off hold with their support center for 2+ straight hours, and when I requested to just be called back/emailed when they received the answer they needed from another department, I was told that I was "REQUIRED to stay on the phone" or I would have to "go through the whole process again" - a COMPLETE waste of my time and workday. Additionally, our site got infected by malware for which we were offered NO support and instead were immediately transferred to a sales department who spouted a lengthy sales pitch and gave no genuine technical advice. When asked to speak with someone who wasn't trying to sell us a product, we were told that wasn't an option. I could go on about the billing department's 2-month runaround JUST for trying to change our password and registrant info - even with legal proof of account ownership and providing them with multiple other methods of verification, all of which were accepted but to no avail... Overall, an atrocious ripoff for the price with disappointing web-building tools and a complete absence of support.
The Starter shared hosting package (from $7.99 per month with a one-year contract) includes a free domain name that you can keep as long as you use Bluehost, free domain name transfer, 50GB of storage, unlimited monthly data transfers, and a skimp five email addresses. The Plus package (starting at $10.99 per month with a one-year contract) adds an antispam tool as well as unlimited storage and mailboxes. The Prime package (starting at $14.99 per month with a one-year contract) tops all of Bluehost's shared hosting plans with a dedicated IP address, domain privacy, and site backup.
Upon first getting started with GoDaddy, customers who sign up for an annual plan receive a free domain name and the power to control their hosting via cPanel or Plesk control panels. From either of these interfaces, you can quickly install and set up the WordPress environment at no additional cost. Even if you don't sign up for a 12-month GoDaddy plan, they're still known as the World's #1 Domain Name Registrar, so they're a reputable choice for hosting your domain.
Full disclosure: if you purchase hosting via any of the links located on this comparison page, I might get a small referral commission. This does not affect any my recommendations and I am very serious about that. There are plenty of hosts that I don’t like (many of which pay out high commissions) and you can read about the hosts that I don’t recommend.
GlowHost picked up major points for their 91-day money-back guarantee. They were six days short of DreamHost's 97-day guarantee, but with these numbers, who's quibbling over a few days? The company also picked up points for their 24/7/365 phone support option and free cPanel offering for most plans. The company operates 18 datacenters worldwide. Finally, the company gains major points by driving all its hosting services with wind power.
Mojo Marketplace is an online marketplace where you can install free apps that deal with building websites. You can download major website builders like WordPress and Drupal, you can download website themes, you can download eCommerce plugins, etc. Most of the apps offered on Mojo Marketplace are free elsewhere, but what makes Mojo Marketplace so special is the fact that users can download and install the apps with the click of a button.
the emails were working today and all of a sudden after 9AM PST, the emails stopped working. So I contacted bluehost to find out what’s going on. I logged into the account and check as well. i went into the email area and found that all the emails on the account is gone. WTF! I’m with the agent chatting and it’s now 10:31AM PST and still no answer as to what happened and what is going on.
