Is Bluehost A Domain Registrar

It’s worth noting that BlueHost offers tons of latest security and performance features – NGINX architecture, custom server cache, HTTP/2, SSD storage, etc. However, these features are only available for those who are willing to pay extra. GoPro, BlueHost’s highest performance shared hosting plan, costs $13.95/mo on signup ($23.99/mo on renewal). WordPress Hosting (which is officially recommended by WordPress.org), now with a new dashboard and integrated marketplace, costs $19.99/mo (and $39.99/mo on renewal).
We shifted to Hostgator last month. Before that, our site was hosted on with an Indian host called SquareBrothers. Our site suffered like hell during that period. The server breaks down every minute. Uptime was somewhere around 30%. They are a bunch of morons who cheat their customers. It was like a worst nightmare for us. I repeat Squarebrothers is the worst webhost in the world.
Before you make your hosting decision, you’ll probably have read hundreds of different reviews from several different perspectives on just about every hosting company out there. One of the patterns you might notice is that several of these hosting companies offer an uptime guarantee – usually a guarantee of 99.99% uptime. This promises that you will be compensated for any more than 8 hours of downtime per year. This is not the case with Bluehost. Bluehost will not compensate you should their uptime dip below the advertised average. While their uptime record isn’t behind by much, studies show that Bluehost tends to have a slightly lower uptime rate than most of their big-name competitors.  For sites that monetize on visits, that extra 4 hours of downtime per year can have a huge impact on your business. But when compared with other budget sites like WebHostingPad, Bluehost has a far better uptime for the money you pay.
Hosting companies know what a complete pain in the ass moving your websites to a new host usually is… so, once they have you as a customer… they rarely provide you with any real support. It’s a common and ongoing problem. Bluehost is my 3rd hosting company. I thought I had finally found a host that had at least a reasonable level of service… but I was wrong.
As previously mentioned, Bluehost also tops the charts in server hosting — offering fantastic performance at competitive prices. With two to four cores and guaranteed resources, your virtual or dedicated server will be performant, powerful, and online virtually 24/7. The Bluehost team leverages industry-leading open-source technologies, such as KVM and OpenStack, to eke out as much performance as possible, leaving you with the utmost flexibility and reliability. Sold? VPS and dedicated plans include instant provisioning, because waiting for your server is so 2000s.

HostGator utilizes several Tier 4 data centers located in Texas and Utah. Their strategic utilization of these facilities allows them to provide the flexibility you need and the performance, quality, and reliability your business requires. Each facility boasts a state-of-the-art server, HVAC, electrical, and backup generators. Their data centers are highly secured facilities that have controlled access.
All of this infrastructure has been built out to support the a wide range of hosting services. The family-owned company gains points for understanding the importance of transaction security by offering free AutoSSL and Let's Encrypt SSL encryption for its plans. While the company offers sophisticated services for technically strong clients, it also has a Weebly web builder option to get you up and running quickly.

Hi Lisa… good review you’ve written. I know you criticize Bluehost for not offering website free backups, but did you know that it’s really easy to do yourself? Even my grandma could do it! Cpanel comes with a click-of-a-button website backup and restore, also if your site is on WordPress there are numerous free plugins that can do a full site backup and restore. Just my $0.02/ Tommy
This is an entirely different case from my experience with a similarly-priced shared host called MDDHosting (read my full review), where I've been hosting TechTage.com since 2011. As they're a much smaller, independent company (not a part of a bigger operation), they feel much "closer to the customers", and they proactively upgrade server hardware as newer technologies hit the market.
Comes with a free SSL certificate, a WordPress custom designed control panel and CloudFlare CDN is built directly into your account for free without any coding. Premium managed WP hosting comes with pre-installation of ManageWP, advanced security features such as daily scans for malware and vulnerabilities. SiteLock Security, Advanced CDN & SiteLock WAF. Dedicated backup storage and automated backups.
But this is only adequate for small websites. Larger projects hosted on shared servers with unlimited bandwidth risk a CPU throttle if their websites are using abnormal amounts of this resource. This is caused by a slowing or freezing of your CPU resources. Bluehost may do this so that your over-usage doesn't affect others on the server. This is why Bluehost has many web host service plans with dedicated bandwidth allowances for larger businesses.

For a week I kept trying to get support to help with this, but they had no idea what the problem was. Suddenly they shut down my account because all those problems I was having were excessive server requests (from some change they did but never acknowledged. It's had problems ever since, including getting shut down twice more, the entire database disappearing twice, due to one of their automatic processes, and deleting all the backups.

Any business grows over time, and it demands more efforts and more resources. Same will be the case with your business website. Over time, as your business expands and its scope, services and the number of visitors increases, your server requirements changes too. At this stage, you may want to subscribe to a higher plan with more server space, features, and security.
The company also offers higher-end Windows and Linux servers, available with Plesk and cPanel respectively. We were very intrigued to see that the company offers low-end Atom-based dedicated servers as well as the more traditional Xeon-based machines. One great resource for those doing some basic experimentation, or site development, is that they have a free, three-month trial for one of their lightly-equipped Atom servers.
The Prime Plan gives you everything the plus plan offers but gives you SiteBackup Pro and Domain Privacy. SiteBackup Pro levels up your backup options by allowing you to chose custom intervals for backing up your website and gives you the option to download those backups. Domain Privacy blocks your personal contact information from the whois directory. This keeps your name, address, email, and phone number off of marketing lists which can be used to spam you or plague you with unwanted correspondence from salespeople.
The tech support will treat you like an idiot for trying to have a site with 30gb and having a backup of it. So all in all I have paid more money still have same problem and no real help from Bluehost. I had some of the best service in the past when I was on the shared hosting. If you need something better than shared I would look at SoftLayer or someone else.
Formed in 2003, Bluehost has long since been a hosting innovator and leader. Today, the company powers more than two million websites and carries the official seal of approval given by the WordPress.org team for their managed WordPress services hosted on their VPS platform. With years of experience, competitive pricing, and excellent support, Bluehost is a pick you can take to the bank in the VPS hosting space.”
Bluehost has proven over the years that they're dedicated to pushing their own tech to deliver optimal site loading speeds. This has never been more critical than it is in 2017. Consumers have become more demanding than ever. Even one second of delay in loading can cause you to lose readers and, if you're in e-commerce, hit your bottom line in significant ways. For that reason, it's worth a few extra bucks to go with a host that has a robust infrastructure that's delivered proven speeds that meet Google's highest standards.
I have been with BlueHost for a 2+ years now. I have a WordPress and a PHP site hosted with them. I agree that performance isn’t great (as the numbers show) but luckily my sites are small and don’t get much traffic so I don’t think it affects me much. If any of my sites get popular or start making me money, I would probably switch over to something else. But for now, the price is great – I locked in my rate for 3 years so I wouldn’t have to worry about the price going up.

Bluehost was my first decent hosting experience. I left 1&1 crooks and needed a host with reasonable support and a billing department that wasn't purposely difficult to reach. Bluehost is mostly known for being a cheap entry-level shared host with easy enough to set up, but it's also an adequate resource for light hosting of other project. They target those interested is launching Wordpress blogs, and provide a reasonably good platform for this. The recent facelift to the control panel was helpful in some ways, but also complicated things unnecessarily. Their pricing has changed to limit domains and file space for entry level customers, but mostly what you get will be more than enough. Bluehost support is great, decently time and friendly.
This Bluehost review has revealed a lot of great things that the web host has to offer people looking for hosting. They have options for WordPress users, businesses, and people looking for the high control allotted by VPS and dedicated servers. Although their WordPress plans are slightly more expensive than other companies, like HostGator, they include features that make up for this.

You can grab email-marketing tools such as DaDa Mail (starting at $34.95 per year), software that lets you send email-based newsletters to a subscriber list. For an online store or the ability to accept payments, you can get e-commerce applications such as Magento, ShopSite (for shopping cart software), and TransFirst payment gateway. With Magento, I was able to create an attractive store by dragging and dropping website elements. Magento has more flexibility than ShopSite, but if you aren't looking for an elaborate online storefront, ShopSite's simpler interface may get you up and running faster. For small businesses, that time savings may be worth it.
Sales agent called me 6 hours before our appt so we weren't both available for the call as we had specified. I asked him to schedule an appt for later he said that he would only schedule it to discuss more services and that it wasn't going to be so that I could express how I believe I'm not getting their service as promised. Agent was rude and defensive. He raised his voice and when I pointed out his lack of good customer service he responded, "I am not customer service, I am sales". I ended the call at that point.
Both hosts offer either Softaculous or Fantastico so installing WordPress is a breeze, and there are a lot of automated tools in order to make managing your website easier. Again, I think it’s a bit easier to find these things in the Bluehost interface if you’re new to dealing with web hosting, but once you know your way around, HostGator is also easy to use.
They got other customer-centric bonuses for 24/7 support, including 24/7 toll-free callback phone support, free domain name and SSL certificates for as long as you remain a MochaHost customer, a website builder with 500 free templates (and a service that will custom-design your site if you need), a site migration service. In addition, all plans are e-commerce ready and come with free shopping cart software.

Sub-domain: These are domains that are created when you add a prefix to your main domain. So, if your website has a forum section, and you make it so that people can get to the forums by typing mywebsite.forum.com, then that is known as a “sub-domain.” You get 25 of these under a basic package, and unlimited under plus, prime and business pro packages.
Bluehost has a culture that is very disruptive to the customer!! When I call tech support I can barely hear the technician's answers/explanations because of the loud background noise--loud music, employees goofing off with loud conversation and laughter, and other strange sounds. This is a problem because their platform is very confusing. I created a site using Weebley but when I return to edit the site, I have to do a lot of work to find where they have stored it. I will be returning to GoDaddy. Their platform is easy to navigate and their tech support team act like professionals and not kids on a playground.

Though inherently a blogging tool, WordPress can be manipulated into a web builder, CMS, or online gallery editor, and it’s been called all of the above. WordPress is highly customizable, and sites built with it can easily be tailored to match any brand aesthetic. WordPress hosting packages are very reasonably priced, and it’s easy to get started. We recommend InMotion Hosting if you’re interested in building a site with WordPress.

I use HostGator for many of my small projects mainly because of how they structure their pricing & features. You’ll want to check out HostGator with a 60% off discount here as well. I’ve written a focused Bluehost review here. I have clients who love them – and use their email and domain services as well. I’ve found that every brand has tradeoffs – there is no overall “best” – there is only the best for you based on your goals & preferences. For example, this site specifically uses InMotion VPS Hosting – which has a big emphasis on customer service & performance.
Their setup process is very easy, the service is reliable, and they have stand-out customer service. It's responsive and clear. They also have a large and helpful library of resources to make it easy to troubleshoot on your own. The service is reliable for the most part, and the interface/dashboard is clear and easy to use. If you use WordPress, Bluehost has a dedicated service for hosting WordPress sites.
Sites hosted on the GoDaddy entry level Basic Managed WordPress Hosting plan are automatically backed up every day, but, unlike SiteGround — who only store one version — with GoDaddy, 30 backup files are kept at any one time. You can restore these backup files in just a few clicks through the GoDaddy customer dashboard, and, when doing so, you have the option of restoring the files, the database or both.
The constant up-sells or teased, handicapped features were loathsome. The support is rather bad. Periodically, our client sites would get wiped out or rolled back to the same point in time. Ever-increasing months of work, lost with nary an explanation from them. Finally, we graduated to tier 2 support we were given some insight into what was going on. One of the best business decisions we made was moving away from Bluehost.
Let's Encrypt is a free Secure Socket Layer certificate that keeps your website traffic safe by encrypting the data that is transferred between our servers and their computer. Let's Encrypt allows you to enable your website to run in the secure HTTPS setting, as oppose to the open HTTP setting. Bluehost provides a free Let's Encrypt SSL for all website hosting plans and we enable it automatically. Our Let's Encrypt SSL certificate will secure any of your domains including subdomains at no additional cost.
I been struggling with email problems since 2 weaks ago! Talked to many support agents, one and another, waited for long times (right now I have a chat with them since 3 and a half hours ago and they don’t have a little idea of what to do), they have given me a lot o stupid excuses like (“sorry the chat is slow” or “I am just a representative not a specialist”).
