Bluehost 30 Day Trial
I have around 20 sites hosted with Bluehost under several different accounts, including my own company’s site on a VPS plan. The live chat is extremely slow, the reps don’t bother to read your initial post (I include the last 4 validation to try and speed up getting to the root question, so what is the first thing I am asked for? “Please validate your account.”), and their product knowledge at times is poor, to say the least. Phone support is usually a lot faster, plus you’re apt to get someone more technically adept.
After spending years on my website, it suddenly started getting wiped. I was happily using Concrete5 to build my site. Bluehost, forced installed WordPress, without my permission. It overrode/wiped my site, and replaced it with a blank WordPress blog. I changed it back over and over, requested they stop doing it, but they kept doing it. They've obviously made a deal with WordPress, and are doing this on purpose. I can't use concrete5 anymore.. and get constant prompts to use WordPress instead. They also tried charging me for another site, one that I'd cancelled...twice. They still charged me for it.
Seems like just daily maintenance has been “termed” abusive. I have been hosting my websites at BlueHost for 3 years now, and I do not consider myself an abusive user however, lately anything I do including routine maintenance causes BlueHost servers to over throttle an lock my account. The claim of “Unlimited space” is also false advertising. My sites recently went over 3GB (6 sites combined) and my account was locked until I freed up space. The advertisements say “Unlimited” but the “terms” say otherwise and, you will get a nasty email quoting the terms you probably didn’t know existed because like me you didn’t read them. The trade off for using a cheap hosting company like BlueHost is that you get what you pay for: “limited, slow and hassles but cheap”.
I’ve been a customer of Hostgator for over 7 years and I wouldn’t use any other company for my business hosting needs. I know they offer excellent products and service as I’ve tried a few other bigger companies and their service was not a patch on the support you receive from Hostgator. I run a VPS though them and have adequate control which I’m very happy with. Support can sometimes be slow by ticket but live chat is available for urgent issues.
I have used Bluehost for over 12 months and have been very happy with the service they provide. For the money you get extremely good value – I host over 10 sites on the one account and have never had any problems with being told that I have gone over resource limits or used too much bandwidth. I have only needed to contact support a few times and they were always very quick to respond and help solve the issues, although it has to be said they were quite simple problems.
An added bonus is that with Bluehost you can get a WordPress site up and running in about 5 minutes. This, of course, is possible because setting up an account, acquiring a domain, and installing WordPress can all be done from the Bluehost site. Bluehost streamlines the process for getting up and running with your WordPress site by providing a 1-click installation.
The entry-level SiteGround StartUp plan includes automatic daily backups, but only the latest backup of the site is kept. Furthermore, customers on the SiteGround StartUp plan can’t restore backups themselves, and must instead open a ticket to request this paid service. Upgrading to the next package up — GrowBig — increases the number of stored backup versions to 30, and provides the ability to restore a backup from a specific date in the past 30 days using the backup restore tool.
Having used Bluehost for the past 4 years I’m surprised at the number of negative reviews here. I have several domains, databases, blogs, image galleries, etc. and all have been running fine. There have been a couple brief outages. Customer service and technical support were both excellent. I was able to talk to a person quickly and they helped me out within a few minutes. I am not a full-time web developer. I basically run my site as part of my business, but I have helped out associates with their websites and have found their web hosts to be a real pain compared to Bluehost. With Bluehost all my installed apps and scripts work like a charm. I would recommend Bluehost
On their top tier plans – Bluehost offers more features…though I’m not sold on whether they make up for the price. I mean, what is “2 SpamExperts” vs. “1 SpamExpert” – and I’d rather purchase an SSL from a third party provider like NameCheap than my hosting company. GoDaddy’s top tier plan just promises “faster speeds” – which makes me question the value of their middle plan.
The InstantPage site builder interface is incredibly easy to use and includes a lot of options for customization. While you worry about making your website beautiful and professional-looking, the GoDaddy team is working around the clock to ensure that your site will remain online and performing speedily. Their award-winning security team monitors the server that's supporting your website — keeping an eye out for downtime, hackers, and other security threats. They also keep an eye on the usage of other customers sharing your server. The end result is their uptime guarantee of 99.9%, which isn't much in the hosting world, but it does the job for most users.
There’s so much information out there it’s enough to make a person dizzy! But that’s where this page comes in—I’ve tested both hosts over the period of an entire year and broken down everything that I think a prospective buyer should know. I have been creating websites and web properties for more than 10 years and am an expert in web hosting. I also have professional experience with hundreds of hosting companies over many years, so I know not only what’s good but I also know what’s bad.
Due to a change in circumstances I had to cancel my subscription. Never would I touch their chat service again. I spent over an hour trying to cancel. Had to go to my email to get token number. Returned and it was another person. Person number 3 told me that my account name and all else was not correct. But passed by persons 1 & 2. After asking for someone else with more authority she stated that my account was cancelled and that I would have to answer some questions. She disappeared. I logged in again for person no. 4. She knew what was going on. Gave me the questions then it was done and she disappeared. My original cost was $385. I am going to receive back $201. It cost me $184 for 24 days. That is their guarantee. I believe they tried every trick in the book to frustrate me and walk away including lies.
