I've been with bluehost several years as I used it to host my seeds to park the domains for my upcoming projects. I have several domains there about 50 of them. Last incident happened to me that i got hacked and 7 of them were stolen and moved to name.com. I contacted name.com and they replied promptly and they said to wait for bluehost's reply and they will cooperate to move them back. However, bluehost did not reply anything until I post a negative comment on twitter, 10 days later. 10 Days! Its an eternity for them to give a simple "hello, thank you for contacting us" reply. I strongly suggest for you guys to find a better place to host your domains, whatever reasons you are planning to, I think bluehost is NOT a reliable and safe place, its NOT worth it, at all and I advise you to stay away from them.
Eventhough their technical support representative is friendly. I contacted them about what seems to be complicated/advanced problem. six of their representative was either unable to present solution or had made assumption solutions which did not fix the problem. 8 hour of email/telephone marathon ensued, escalating all the way to manager. Turns out the manager knew the solution.

If you are an existing Bluehost customer, there is literally no way to contact them directly. They have an 888# and a chat feature only… both of which are outsourced to India and take a LONG time to get through to anyone… and usually results in zero actual assistance or results.
Never again. When you see ‘Unlimited’ or ‘Unmetered’ - instead read “THROTTLED”. After a year of countless issues with slow server response and database connection errors, we finally reached the last straw after having our hosting account de-activated for purportedly being infected with ‘malware’. After hiring a third party developer to verify that our site was solely experiencing server issues, we migrated to a new host and have experienced ZERO errors. Also - know that the Site Backup Pro service is BROKEN, and does not allow you access to the back-ups that are included in the hosting plan. Support was more than willing to restore the back-ups for me, but REFUSED to give me copies, despite me providing multiple instances of documentation where I was promised and encouraged to download them to my computer. Probably because they knew I would be using the back-ups to escape their clutches. Other than that, Support is incompetent. SSL is buggy. Prepare for errors to pop up out of the blue. Beware Bluehost.

I've used Bluehost for quite awhile. They said I was hacked once in 2016 and my accounts were all frozen and taken offline while I backed up my files and deleted them from the server. They couldn't show me proof of anything and offered a pay service of theirs to do a sweep, clean and check, which I declined. That was really the only major issue I ever had with them. We’ve been with Bluehost for many years. Recently we have encountered problems with e-mails sent from the site. When something goes wrong and there have been no software changes on our end, the finger points to a server issue. The most recent problem was html-formatted e-mails being sent from the code by the mature and widely used phpmailer library. They were being sent as plain text with nr paragraph codes embedded. A ticket to technical support was returned telling us that they don’t offer software support (which we never asked for) and to upgrade PHP from 5.3 to 5.4. This was the wrong answer, given that phpmailer works back to PHP 5.1.

They are very affordable, easy to set up, and offer the basics to get a website up and running. The admin area is pretty straightforward and it's very easy to use. Though I'd only recommend them as a last resort if other more reliable hosts aren't affordable for the client at this point in time.

I always have to explain a couple times what my issue is. But overall, they get the job done, and my problem fixed. No horror stories – just nothing super-special.

The customer service department has been a bit slack over the past couple of years. They used to answer right away and immediately fix any concerns. Over the past couple years, the hold and wait time has been pretty long and I often have to go back and forth with them to get a problem solved. Even their online chat service takes awhile to connect with a rep and get things accomplished. I'm not sure if they've outsourced their customer service or if they changed hands and merged or what exactly, it's just not the same as it used to be. Luckily, I don't have issues very often to have to contact them.

Well, I switched to BlueHost to increase the page load speed, etc. That’s not happening! In fact, it’s really bad with going into wp-admin. The recent outage too me by surprise and in talking with them I asked about “cloud redundancy” and was told the entire cloud service was down. There is something definitely wrong with that picture and they really need to look at how they are configured. Anyway, the pricing hook is dead on and I was believed to think I’d get the intro price for 12 months but guess what? Not gonna happen unless you do 3 years. I talked, at length with sales before making the switch and wasn’t told that, in fact was told just the opposite. So, yeah I felt the bait/switch routine.
